5years B.A.LL.B (H) ADMISSION NOTIFICATION

SESSION - 2023-28

It is hereby notified for information of all concerned that admission to 5-year B.A. LL.B (Hons.) Programme in Bengal Law College under B.U. will start following the Govt. Notification vide No- UG/5-YR.LL.B. Admn. (2023-24) / 58, dated 30.06.2023. The entire process of admission will be completed as per the following schedule:

a) Date of opening of On-line Portal for Application for the Programme – 04.07.2023
b) Date of Completion of Application for the Programme in the On-line Portal – 17.07.2023
c) Date of Publication of Draft Merit List – 19.07.2023
d) Date of Publication of Final Merit List – 20.07.2023
e) Date of Commencement of Admission to the Programme – 21.07.2023
f) Date of Completion of Admission to the Programme – 31.07.2023

On completion of admission process within the specified date, classes will be commenced on and from 01.08.2023 adhering the COVID-19 norms/protocol, issued by the Govt. from time to time. Apart from this, admission to the above mentioned programme will be guided by the following guidelines.

1) Only on-line admission will be done based on merit. Prospective students should not be called for counselling or verification during the process of admission. No physical presence will be required at the colleges.

2) For generation of Merit List, Merit Score of each applicant will be computed taking into account the total of the marks of the best four (04) subjects (Full marks 100 each) obtained in H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination. In case of tie, tie-breaking rules will be as follows:

Step – I: Original Merit Score + Marks of English in H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination. Again tie,

Step – II: Merit Score of Step- I + Marks of the 1st best subject in H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination. Again tie,

Step – III: Merit Score of Step- II + Marks of the 2nd best subject in H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination. Again tie,

Step – IV: Merit Score of Step- III + Marks of the 3rd best subject in H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination. Again tie,

Step – V: Merit Score of Step- IV + Marks of the 4th best subject in H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination

3) Eligible applicants will be informed directly by the college authorities through e-mail and/ or tale-communication.

4) Payment of admission fee will be done only through e-payment or designated bank(s) [NEFT/ Net Banking] and not physically at the colleges.

5) All testimonials are required to be uploaded online during application. Verification of documents will be done by the respective college only when the students will report for classes in due course. Admission will be cancelled if the documents are found not in conformity with the declaration in the forms submitted on-line.

6) Candidates, engaged in any other Course of Studies shall not be allowed to pursue this programme simultaneously and in-service candidates will have to produce NOC from their employers for pursuing this course.

7) Candidates, who have passed the Higher Secondary or +2 Examination from any recognized Council/ Board/University, are eligible for application subject to fulfillment of the eligibility criterion stated below:

INSTRUCTIONS:-


For admission to 5-year B.A. LL. B (Hons.) Programme, each candidate shall have to pass the Higher Secondary Examination under (10+2) pattern or its equivalent examination securing not below 45% of the total marks in case of general category 42% of the total marks in case of OBC category and 40% of the total marks in case of SC and ST applicants.

* As per the notice vide no. BCI: D: 6817:2022(Council) (Cir-12/2022), dated 12.12.2022, 3-year Diploma/ Polytechnic Course issued by an institution recognized by the Government shall be considered at par with +2 certificate for the purpose of admission to the 5-year Integrated LL.B. Degree Course.

** Note: In the calculation of percentage marks of H.S. (10+2) / Equivalent Examination, marks of the best five subjects or as prescribed by the respective Council/ Board/University, will be considered.

8) As per BCI norm, the applicants who have obtained 10+2 or Graduation/ Post Graduation through open University system directly without having any basic qualification for prosecuting such studies are not eligible for admission in the law courses.

9) No age limit is there but the entire process including admission to the programme shall abide by the decision of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in WP (Civil) No. 1023/2016 pending before it.

10) There will be no reservation of seats in Bengal Law Colleges following the notification of the Kolkata Gazette, vide Registered no. WB/ SC- 247, NO. WB (Part-I)/ 2014/ SAR- 6, dated- 03.01.2014 (under sl. No. 3).

11) In case of cancellation of admission of any student, fees will be refunded as per the relevant circulation of the UGC and the Higher Education Deptt., Govt. of West Bengal.

12) In Bengal Law College, students will be admitted within the approved intake (Bengal Law College- 80) only.
